Despite facing a dismal future after losing her sight, hearing and ability to speak at an early age, Helen Keller overcame her disability with the help of her teacher’s manual alphabet. Through sheer determination and courage, Helen went on to receive a series of international distinctions and became a tireless champion of the blind. The Helen Keller International Foundation continues her work, with the support of Total, and helps provide cataract operations to people in developing countries.
